The Meaning of Life

Treasures In The Garden

Life is an adventure, an experience……

The adventure of life

is to serve.

The purpose of life

is to grow.

 The nature of life

is to change.

The challenge of life

is to overcome.

The essence of life

 is to care.

The opportunity of life

is to serve.

The secret of life

is to dare.

The spice of life

is to befriend.

The beauty of life

is to give.

……. too short…. so.. enjoy!

My word for today”EXPERIENCE!”

Following the journey

Treasures In The Garden

The end result is not enjoyable…….

Sometimes we become too focused

on the line where we will finish.

and we fail to see the journey

we have taken to get to our destination.

……. if we have missed out on how we got there.

My word for today is “JOURNEY!”

Accumulation of wealth

Treasures In The Garden

Accumulating material things…….

Focus in on non-material values

and their amazing benefits.

Enjoy the beauty of a sunset/ sunrise.

Forget watching television.

Look after our health

 -take a walk

-play with children.

Recognize that consumerism

does not improve our own well being,

or that of our nation

…….has camouflaged the riches

we have within ourselves, in our country and in nature.

Asking For Help

More of those pesky rainbow lorikeets.

    From My Garden

I am keeping my thoughts centred on what I wish to experience more of in my life:

More love,

more happiness,

more positivity,

more enthusiasm,

more motivation,

more inspiration,

more travel,

more communicationa with my family,

more giving,

more excitement,

more LIVING.

I have all of the rest of my life left to live.

I have 100% of the rest of my life to live

It is in admitting to and accepting that I have many weaknesses as well as strengths, that I have many times called on God’s help to get me through. And it is in that, that I have found my true potential.

And I am enjoying my new found freedom of getting on with life and not looking back.

In these last few days we have met up with a young  lady who was part of our lives for 2 years when she was just a young baby – through the fostercare programme. She was such a lively little being and won the hearts of our family with her love of life. Myssie was lucky to be returned to her family and had a good life .

For a while we missed her bright little nature, but  knew we had to move on and not continue to mourn for  what could not be.

Well, through the institution of Face Book and the help of an”Unlikely Genius” we made contact again. And she has turned out to be a lovely person – much quieter than the lively tot we first knew, but that’s growing  up-  but none- the- less a nice human being. That’s all we can ask of our children. That was what I always wanted for my children, and that’s exactly what I got.

And I can only thank God for the children who touched my life over the years and enriched my life beyond all measure. I am sure that some of them have no idea what they have done for me, and now they are gone and living there own unique lives have little thought for what they gave me and what I have learnt about being a human being, and through them have learned to move on and continue with life in it’s present form.

And of course God’s help  in moving to that space has been immeasurable. Thank you Lord for being there.

I wish you a day of love and happiness and that you find life worth living every single day. C

The Ripple Effect

Welcome to my front door.

             From My Garden

Happenings in life are like a series of chain reactions
– just like when I throw a stone into the water and the
ripples circle out. Each event has an effect on the the
next one down the line. I may remember the end result,
but not all the small choices I made each day that either
got me closer to my goal or took me farther away.

Well, life is back to the mundane again – washing and ironing and cleaning and cooking dinner. I have done none of these in the last 5 weeks, not even making my bed.
And yet the mundane is important. This brings me back to earth and grounds me into who  I really am. Iam not the served but the server. There is no pleasure or achievement in being served and having no accomplishment other than having a good time. However, there is a accomplishment in having a clean house in making a pleasant, tasty meal, in being able to make someone happy, in being a human being with purpose a and worth.

And my memories are still there from my wonderful holiday, sharing my experience with my work colleagues and listening to their aspirations and dreams for their coming journeys or journeys they have already travelled on. Yes, I am back at work already. I didn’t know how much I missed the company of my younger work mates or the babble of small children asking me where I had been. Even they were interested in the story of being on the plane and the boat.
I am glad to be back to the mundane. There’s excitement and fun even in that too. That is who I am.

Hoping all your dreams come true and I can be a part of your sharing of the fulfillment of your dreams and journeys as well . C.

Another Magical Day

From My Travels

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I have 100% of the rest of my life to live.

Today is a lovely sunny day – still not warm, but much more conducive to lifted spirits

We arrived in Dublin after a 31/2 hour journey in a really huge ferry boat.

Our first stop after leaving Wrexham in Wales was at Llangollen.

Everywhere we go it is 20p …2p. One place it was50p.

a narrow boat travelling on a canal

Here we saw colourful narrow boats that travel on the canals in many areas of the UK.. We encountered rain here again.

We visited a pretty little village with the strange name of Betswy- Co-ed

We visited shops and a very pretty park…. and this was where the sun made an appearance. Nigel bought a raincoat. So we knew this would be the time when the rain would disappear.

On the next part of our journey we encountered bike riders, high mountains. deep valleys, hikers, slate mining, and a large lake. This was the Snowdonia region of Wales. Mt. Snowdon is the highest peak.

And on to that town with the very long name with the weirdest meaning. It was very pretty also.

The town with longest name and the weird meaning

We crossed the Menai Strait to the Isle of Anglesey where Prince William flies a rescue helicopter. He and Kate have a home here. And down to the Port of Holyhead to catch our ferry to Ireland.

Tonight we are staying at Jurys Inn which is opposite Christchurch Cathedral -Anglican denomination. We have been out to look at the Cathedral (it is massive ) and post some postcards.

Our hotel room is very nice and inviting. We will be staying here for two nights, At 9pm. the sun is still shining brightly.

What was good today?

Visiting the place with the very long name and weird meaning.

What I was grateful for.

That our journey so far has been a safe and interesting one.

God in my life

Sunshine, nice travelling companions, getting to visit the Cathedral, the man who told us where we could post our postcards.

So we have once again had a delightful day. It is great to be able to share with you Wish you were here to share it personally.

Christchurch Cathedral

God bless. c

Brand New Day

At the entrance to Hadrians Wall
A view of the remaining wall
At Edinburgh Castle

        From My Travels

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I have 100% of the rest of my life to live

Today,June 14, we arrived in Edinburgh Scotland- Adam’s birthday. Happy birthday Adam.It was a beautiful sunny day- great for lifting ones spirits.

The bus we travel in.

On that day the first place we visited was Hadrians Wall, which was built by Hadrian in about the first century. There’s not much of the wall left. It used to be 73miles long, We saw it at a place called Heddon – on- wall.

At the Scottish border
Jedburgh Abbey ruins

We also visited Abbey ruins at Jedburgh and Melrose. Both very beautiful. There was a really lovely garden at Melrose as well. I liked these ruins better than Edinburgh Castle

Melrose Abbey ruins
Harmony Cottage

We arose this morning to drizzling rain. But it didn’t daunt us. We went to explore Edinburgh. At Edinburgh Castle there was so much history. Edinburgh is a very old city. Travelling around the city is slow going. It’s good we are on holidays and not in a hurry.

Last night we went to traditional Scottish entertainment: bagpipes, sword and highland dancing, singalong, piping in the haggis, haggis tasting -great night out.Tonight we are having dinner on the royal yacht Britannia.

Everyday brings a new experience, some where new to explore, new people to meet.

I guess that’s what experiencing new cultures is all about. Great to be part of it.

Keep good. Keep positive, Pass it on… C
